Hyderabad has grown into a centre for pharmaceuticals, life sciences, IT and infrastructure, and the Hyderabad Bench of the National Company Law Tribunal hears the insolvency and company cases that come with that growth. It covers every company registered in Telangana: bulk drug and formulation makers, IT and IT-enabled services firms, infrastructure and EPC contractors, real estate developers, poultry and seed companies, and family businesses old and new.
The bench sits on the ground floor of Corporate Bhawan at Tattiannaram, Bandlaguda, Nagole, in the eastern part of the city. Appeals go to the NCLAT's Chennai Bench. Our practice is based in Delhi NCR; for Hyderabad matters we offer online consultation and appear on brief through associate counsel. This page explains what the bench covers, the cases it commonly hears, and how matters move.

Which companies go to Hyderabad
Under Section 60(1) of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, the bench is decided by the registered office. Before Andhra Pradesh got its own bench at Amaravati, companies of both states were heard in Hyderabad, and some older companies registered in undivided Andhra Pradesh still have registered offices in Hyderabad. Those companies, being registered in Telangana today, come to Hyderabad even if their business is in Andhra Pradesh. Check the master data before filing.
Infrastructure groups in Hyderabad often operate through many special purpose companies, one for each road, power or building project. Each is a separate corporate debtor, and a petition must be filed against the company that actually owes the money. Where several project companies of a group are in insolvency, the cases may be heard together but remain separate processes.

How a matter moves at NCLT Hyderabad
Check jurisdiction
We confirm the registered office from MCA records and, for infrastructure groups, the project company that owes the money.
Prepare and e-file
Papers are prepared by our Delhi NCR team and filed on the NCLT e-filing portal with the fee paid online.
Defects and listing
The registry notifies defects, which must be cured within the time allowed. The matter is then numbered and listed.
Hearings
Associate counsel appear at hearings on brief. Virtual appearance may be permitted, depending on current practice.
Orders and appeals
Orders are uploaded on the NCLT website. Appeals go to the NCLAT at Chennai.
Pharma companies in insolvency
A pharmaceutical company's value often lies less in its buildings than in its licences: manufacturing licences, product registrations in India and abroad, and approvals from foreign regulators for export markets. These approvals can be lost if a plant is shut, if inspections find problems, or if the company fails to maintain compliance during insolvency. A resolution professional needs to keep the plant compliant and staffed with qualified people. Bidders should review inspection histories and pending regulatory actions, and check which licences will need fresh approval after the change of control. Suppliers of APIs and packaging should file claims quickly, and those asked to keep supplying during the CIRP should confirm in writing that those supplies will be paid as CIRP costs.
EPC contractors and subcontractor claims
Subcontractors are often owed money by an EPC contractor that is itself waiting for payment from the project owner. A subcontractor can proceed against the contractor under Section 9 if the debt is undisputed and at least Rs 1 crore, but disputes about measurement, quality and delay are common in construction, and a pre-existing dispute will defeat the application. Many construction contracts also have arbitration clauses. Before choosing insolvency, we check whether the contractor has acknowledged the amount, whether any dispute was raised before the demand, and whether a commercial suit or arbitration would be more realistic.

How we work on Telangana matters
We are a litigation practice led by Advocate BK Singh, with offices in Dwarka (New Delhi) and Vaishali (Ghaziabad). For Hyderabad matters, this is what you can expect:
- Online first meeting: we review papers and advise by video.
- Appearance on brief: associate counsel in Hyderabad appear at hearings, with our team preparing the papers.
- Right company identified: in infrastructure groups, we pick the project company that actually owes.
- Honest advice on forum: construction claims often suit arbitration or a suit better.
- Written fee terms: agreed stage by stage, never linked to the outcome.
Mistakes we see in Telangana matters
- Filing an Andhra Pradesh company's case in Hyderabad, or the reverse
- Filing against the group holding company instead of the project company
- Using Section 9 for a construction claim with a pre-existing measurement dispute
- Filing an appeal from Hyderabad at the NCLAT in New Delhi
- Not confirming in writing that supplies during a CIRP will be paid as CIRP costs
An API supplier and a formulation maker
Here's a made-up example. A Gujarat API manufacturer supplied active ingredients worth Rs 1.7 crore to a Hyderabad formulation company. The buyer paid part and then stopped, citing slow sales, but never complained about quality.
We confirmed the buyer's registered office in Telangana and sent a demand notice under Section 8 with the invoices, certificates of analysis and the buyer's emails asking for time. No notice of dispute came within ten days. A Section 9 application was filed before NCLT Hyderabad, with associate counsel appearing. The buyer settled in instalments secured by post-dated cheques, and the application was withdrawn before admission.
Homebuyers and a suburban project
Here's a second made-up example. Around 110 allottees of a residential project near Hyderabad had waited years beyond the promised date. The developer had several projects and was registered in Hyderabad.
The buyers first considered Telangana RERA. Because the developer seemed to lack funds to complete, they chose a Section 7 petition before NCLT Hyderabad. The bench admitted it, and the CIRP was conducted for the project. A developer's resolution plan to complete the towers was approved by the committee, with the buyers voting through their authorised representative.
Before your first hearing
Because our team prepares Hyderabad matters from Delhi NCR, we put extra care into the brief for associate counsel. It includes a one-page note of dates, the amount in default, the demand notice and any reply, with page references, and a short list of the questions the bench is likely to ask. For construction claims, we add a reconciliation of running bills, certified amounts and payments, because the first question is often how the figure was arrived at. We speak to counsel before and after every hearing and send you a short note of what happened.
Real estate in Hyderabad's growth corridors
Fast growth in the western and northern suburbs has brought many residential and commercial projects, some by developers who over-extended. Homebuyers in a stalled project can choose between Telangana RERA and the NCLT. A Section 7 petition needs 100 allottees or 10% of the allottees of the same project, whichever is less. Landowners who entered joint development agreements with the developer are in a different position: they may be owed a share of flats or revenue rather than money, and whether they are financial or operational creditors, or neither, depends on the agreement. We read the development agreement before advising landowners on their claim.
